Year 11 and 12’s Retreat

February 27, 2024

On the 4th and 5th of February, the IB students went on a retreat to Log Cabin Camp. These two days were filled with fun and exploration as both year levels participated in team-based activities. On the bus, many songs were sung, lead by one of the Year 12 students. The first activities were canoeing and the commando course, where communication and teamwork were used a lot.

Throughout the afternoon, students had fun with archery and the flying fox. After dinner staff and students went on a night walk across the beautiful terrain around the camp and admired the sunset. Later in the night, students worked together in groups to create campfires and cook damper over the fire. Some turned out great, however some were unique. Day two involved an orienteering activity and the leap of faith. Students were able to test their limits on the leap of faith, pushing past their fears to succeed.
The food that was provided during the camp was delicious and all were very thankful for the people that cooked all the food.

On the bus ride back, everyone had a nice nap. Overall, the Year 11 and 12 Retreat offered students a chance to learn about themselves and their peers. They worked as teams and developed communication skills and friendships that will put them in good stead for the final years of their secondary education.
