On the 21st of June, in France, the whole country celebrates Music. This celebration was created by the French Minister of Culture in 1982 and since then the concept has been exported all around the world. Orchestras, music clubs, professional and non-professional artists are offered spaces and opportunities to perform in the streets of their hometowns.
Our French and Music Departments worked together to create a CSCC version of this celebration. The goal was to highlight our privilege to learn music at school and to be surrounded by some of the many talented students and staff.
A special assembly was held where primary students shared French songs they learned during Semester One, The Ball family introduced us to their family band ‘Le Club des Cinq’ and our Year 11 class lead us brilliantly with a worship song.
During each recess, students who are learning a musical instrument at or outside of school were offered the opportunity to perform in different areas of the college. We ended the day with a DJ set made by one of our Year 10 students and the whole school was invited to dance.
The day was a success, and both the French and Music departments are already working on a second edition in 2024, hoping to make the 21st of June a new Creek Street Christian College tradition.
